About us The Fages de Climent Public Library in Figueres (BFC) is a municipal library which is part of the Public Library System of the Generalitat de Catalunya, and is also sustained by the Diputació de Girona. The Fages de Climent Public Library has been serving the community for over eighty years. It first opened to the public in 1922. Later, in 1969, it was named after the local poet and journalist Carles Fages de Climent (1902-1968) The library has undergone a great deal of renovation until the opening of a new building at Nº 11 Plaça del Sol in 2000. Jordi Casadevall, architect, designed a 1,500 square metres building divided into four floors containing currently a general collection of more than 85,000 documents. It is the mission of the Fages de Climent Public Library to provide and promote open and equal access to the resources and services of the library in order to meet the informational, educational, and cultural needs of the community of Figueres and Alt Empordà

Services: adults and children services, online catalogue, general collection (fiction and non-fiction books, DVD and CD, comics, magazines and newspapers, audiobooks, etc.), information services, online information resources, unlimited library loan, interlibrary loans, Internet access, Wi-Fi, copying facilities, multicultural services (books and newspapers in foreign languages, language learning materials, Easy Reading materials)

Local section: local history books, rare books, pamphlets, newspapers, printed music, maps, etc; digital collection of historical newspapers and ancient photographs avalaible online. The library expects to make more of its special collections available online in the future

Events: storytimes (rhymetimes) for under 3s and storytimes over 3s, reading clubs, exhibitions, author visits, book presentations, guided visits to the library for students or any other group, etc.

Areas: the Adults section is divided into three floors. On the ground floor the visitor can find novels, poetry, biographies, comics, books on cooking, decorating and the latest arrivals. On the first floor we have music CDs, DVDs, magazines and newspapers, art, philosophy and science books. The second floor houses the Local collection, travel guides, languages and documents on the exile, as well as books on other subjects such as sports, history, geography, law, economics, etc. The Children's library is located on the lower floor where we found all the books, DVDs, CDs for children, as well a parenting collection.

All library services are free and open to the community. To get your library card just come along with a valid ID card or passport and justify the current address. With your library card you will be able to borrow the amount of materials you want, without limitation. You can renew items in person or by telephone, provided that no other user has reserved them. If the item you require isn't available, you may reserve it. In addition, it is possible to obtain items that are not available in our library by using the Inter Library Loans Service. Furthermore, there is a form available on the web to suggest books that the library should purchase.
